Community Service
Below is a list of a couple service contributions I have assisted within the community
Northern Food Bank
For the past three years, I have dedicated my time to community service, particularly as a Volun-teen supervisor with the Northern Food Bank. In this role, I have served as a crucial link between volunteers and the organization, assuming responsibility for guiding and supporting multiple groups during their volunteering activities. My tasks involved addressing any questions that other volunteers has during service, to ensure a smooth and productive experience for all involved. During my time volunteering, I have accumulated an impressive 203 hours of community service with the Northern Food Bank. My primary responsibilities included sorting and packaging food supplies, a vital contribution to the organization's mission of distributing essential resources to our local communities. Through this experience, I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact that the Northern Food Bank has on our community, providing much-needed assistance and nourishment to those in need. Being a part of this impactful initiative has fueled my passion for community service and reinforced my commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Engineering Enchanting Pathways
Over the course of more than three years, I proudly served as a mentor for Engineering Enchanting Pathways, an organization dedicated to empowering middle school girls through engaging activities in the fields of engineering and technology. In my role as a mentor, I had the privilege of guiding and supporting up to 40 young women through group activities that encompassed building circuits, coding exercises, and assembling various engineering projects. Beyond technical skills, I actively contributed to the development of their leadership abilities and problem-solving. My commitment to mentoring stems from a genuine passion for giving back and providing guidance to the next generation. Engineering Enchanting Pathways, with its focus on fostering confidence in young girls, this program plays a pivotal role in breaking gender barriers in STEM fields. The organization provides a platform for hands-on learning experiences, aiming to inspire and equip these students with the skills and mindset necessary for success in the exciting world of engineering and technology. It has been incredibly rewarding to be a part of this initiative, contributing to the growth and empowerment of these aspiring young engineers.
My Sister's Place DC
In my volunteer work with My Sister's Place in Washington, D.C., I have had the opportunity to contribute to a cause that supports women and children who have survived domestic violence. This organization plays a crucial role in the lives of these survivors by providing them with essential items such as canned food, blankets, toys, and pillows. As a volunteer, my responsibilities involved restocking and organizing these supplies, but more importantly, I actively participated in ensuring the safety of the survivors by guiding them upstairs and leading them out the door became a fundamental aspect of my role, offering not only practical support but also a reassuring sense of protection. This community service activity has deeply resonated with me, as I witness the impact it has on individuals overcoming the aftermath of domestic violence. It is immensely gratifying to be part of an initiative that goes beyond material assistance, actively contributing to the well-being and security of those who have endured such challenging situations
